Air Arms S.400C .22" Carbine
This carbine is of particular interest . . . it will be noted that there is a "3-layered racing stripe" running vertically through the mid-section of the butt. The original owner - one of the Yellow Forum tuners - had bought the unit for his 9-year old son to use in FT/Silhouette competition . . . this necessitated shortening the LOP by some 3 ~ 4 inches. Later on, the kid having outgrown it a bit, I acquired it along with the cut-off section which had been retained.
A full-size reconstruction was then conducted. To compensate for the "missing saw kerf" I inserted a splice strip of aircraft Birch ply when re-gluing the original butt section back in place. A further strip was then removed from the extreme rear end and an old Gamo adjustable target buttplate installed. The complete butt was then re-contoured to blend with the Gamo buttplate . . . all original AA finish removed . . . and re-stained with MinWax 'English Chestnut' and satin polyurethane varnish.

In its' current state of tune it is putting out approximately 14.0 fpe ... RWS 14.3 grain SuperDomes at 660 fps ... JSB 15.9 grain Exacts at 630 fps. At this power level, with a total velocity spread of 25 fps, it's good for around 45-50 shots.
